About the game
Tanks, mortar teams and riflemen against orc warbands, necromancers and void drakes. A rift has opened over Europe, and you command the last organised front. Choose which cities to fight for on the campaign map, then lead every squad yourself in turn-based isometric battles.
Modern war against an otherworldly enemy
Field 38 Alliance unit types, from light infantry and snipers to main battle tanks, self-propelled guns and gunships. Against them stand 42 kinds of invader in eight families: ghoul packs, ogre brutes, winged fiends, stone golems and stranger things that only appear deeper into the war.An enemy you have to learn
The first time a new kind of invader crosses your sights, you know very little about it: its exact health, the damage it deals and its weak points stay hidden. Fight it, then spend research on studying its family. Each of the eight studies opens the full file on those creatures and teaches your squads where to aim.Ground that decides battles
Hills, ridges and woods are real terrain. From high ground you shoot and see further, a crest hides whatever stands behind it, and guns that lob their shells cannot fire at a target that is too close. Infantry digs trenches up to five levels deep; high-explosive and indirect fire breaks them twice as fast as rifles do.Every battle asks something different
Escort a captain through the evacuation of Paris, hold an ammunition plant in Lyon, bring a stranded recon team home from Brussels, or plant charges on a Rhine bridge. Each mission states how it is won, and the debrief tells you why it ended. Spend action points on movement, fire, overwatch and special orders; every unit has a set number of attacks each turn, and cover, suppression and morale decide who breaks first.Units with their own tricks
A siege tank goes hull down and becomes very hard to hurt; a self-propelled gun plants its spades and shoots further and straighter; a radar deploys and sees much further. None of them moves again until it packs up. The enemy has tricks too: harpies whose shriek paralyses foot squads standing close together, and horrors whose blows break nerve as well as armour.Hold the front together
29 contested territories run on their own timers while enemy pressure spreads. A captured territory pays for a limited number of turns, then it is spent, so the front has to keep moving. Recruit, refill and rearm squads, assign officers and choose who deploys. Squads that survive gain levels, and with them aim, staying power and extra attacks, so every loss is felt.Research what the front needs
59 research projects unlock new weapons, vehicles and doctrine and open the enemy studies, but every turn spent waiting for them is a turn the front has to hold without them.Complete and offline
